Fight between Ice and Greg

   Slam had a lot of problems, after the fight he had in school everyone had a bad view on him, so his attitude problems didn't get better and just worst. Not only he had problems with the people in school but with his grades again, he was having some very bad grades and he needed to find another solution more than just having help of other people, so one day his brother call him to watch the city from the roof and to record what happened. Greg got the camera and went up and started recording he find that the city was beautiful, he recorded everything that happened, people walking through, the sunset and birds flying. After that he saw and felt that he liked to record things and that he would apply for the video group and see if he could have some good grades because of that. One later problem was with his best friend, Ice. Since both are in different schools they started to lose their friendship, one day Greg went to see him at his house and Ice mom told Greg that he was not in home, so he walked around the street and saw Ice with a guy that has a bad primogenitor, he has been in jail because of drug consume and he saw Ice very well dressed with this man. He get near them and start chatting, after minutes one lady had an accident and they needed to call 911 when the ambulance get to the place where the women was laid on the floor Ice tooked out 20$ and give them to every medic that was helping in there. Greg was surprised, he didn't know from where he got that money. After some days Greg started noticing something weird in Ice and at the end he discovered he has been consuming and exchanging drug and that why he had lot of money and was wearing that fine suit; after that their relationship was broke down and they never talked again. With the videotape Greg showed to as many people as he could; librarians, teachers and classmates and one day the video group called him to see his video and they liked it a lot and they asked him if he wanted to get in the group and since he liked to record things Greg accepted. He talked with the principal of the school and asked if he could make up his grades being on the video group and he told him that he needed to be a good group member, and if he does then he might talk with Greg teachers so they be more patient with his classwork grades and in that way Greg could follow his wish to be an NBA player. Latimer basketball team was on the high part of the table, they have won a lot of games and lose the minority of them, so with one more match to go if they win then they would make it to the final against Carver, Ice team and the last champion of the league. Greg was very stressed out before the game, it was against Country Day which was one of the rich teams and Greg did played the majority of the match this time since it was maybe the most important game of the season and that would decide if they go to the final or not. With a great match of Greg, they could win 32-22 and after the match Ducky was upset, he didn't play at all in this game and in all the season so he said he was quitting the team. The final day of the match, the championship match finally came, Greg was waiting to play this match all the season he knew it was going to be very hard but if they play as a team then they would win. Carver team got to the field and Latimer too, bot team shake hands and when it was the turn to shake hands between Ice and Greg they got a nasty look and said let the better win...The match was exciting and all the Latimer players were playing as they never have done, the score was very tight they were 22-22 at the third quarter. In one play, Ice got the ball and Greg tried to take the ball of him, accidentally he put his foot on one side when Ice was trying to run over him and he felt. Ice stand up and went to fight Greg, a big fight was developed there between both ex best friends, and it was a physical fight with punches and verbal words too. Both were separated and taken out to the bench. Their championship was lost but would not play more in his match now all was in both team hands. Without Greg and Ice the match was lower, the intensity was cooler and at the end Latimer was given a foul, there was 1 minute more and it was Nick who might make Latimer win the championship, standing on the foul line Nick take the first shot and the ball went circling in the ring of the hoop and it went out, first shot failed. The pressure was higher with 20 seconds to go Nick had the chance to make Latimer win, it was the second shot... (15 seconds)... Nick closed his eyes took a deep breath...(10 seconds)...open his eyes, bend his knees...(5 seconds)...and take the shot...Greg just heard shouts and went running to the field, Carver team was upset and Latimer celebrating...they have won the championship as final score 35-34. Greg was very happy and he couldn't believe it, he and his team have won the championship one team that at first was the worst and now is the best, Greg was one step closer to his dream and after the celebration one guy came by Greg and give him a card with a phone number and a logo of the NY Nicks, Greg thought, is that real, is he really giving me this card so I can go to the Nicks, Greg couldn't believe it, he closed his eyes and tears began to fall...when he opened them he shouted 
"I MADE IT!!!"

Latimer Championship

  

     When Ducky wanted to quit the team, Greg needed to do something. He tried to make him feel good, saying him that he is a good player that the fact that the coach don't make him play does not mean he is a bad player. Greg saw him cry so he was sad of him too, since he is one of his friends then he felt sorry for ducky. And what he said was; "I'm quitting the team," Ducky said "Why?" Greg replied "Because I suck, I’m just messing up the team. “Cried Ducky. (187) In my experience I have felt this, that sensation of just wanting to quit because you think you are making a damage to the team and not only me as Ducky but also I have experience trying to incentivize one teammate that feels bad as if he is worth anything. Just like Greg I told him many things that would probably make him feel better and the only way of being better is practicing and not quitting if you don't practice then you would never be better. So Greg have make his attitude much better and he is a real teammate he is always seeking for the greatest for the team and his team mates too.

       After a day of winning the championship the team reunited and the coach chat with all of them. His relationship with Greg was better and as I predicted he was just trying to help and now that they won the championship the coach was much better in his way of treating his players and much happier. They got the chat and he said "We can't live in the past, you all showed a lot of heart last night, but that win won't help us tomorrow. All that showed us is what we can do if we put our hearts and minds to it. The first practice will be Monday afternoon. And guys, be ready to do some serious work."(229) This phrase is a very good example of life, it is all the theme and lesson of the book in just one phrase, you always need to try the best, try to be better each day and never stay on what happened before. Throughout all the book Greg has been facing a lot of problems and at the end he didn't stay in any of them, he always get them through and keep going. This quote is just telling on how even if you win the world championship you always need to be better, always practice and always keep going and never give up. If you success one time and if you want to success another you need to keep practicing and trying to be the best in that.  

     All the book has focused in this moment, when Greg could win the championship and follow his   dream. He has break many walls (Problems) that might have prohibit him to follow his dream and in that is what the theme of the book centered; keep going. In life you will always have barriers that might stop you to accomplish your goals, and life is that, full of problems, but you can't stay in the past and need to break those barriers. This book is very similar to my life, since I’m an athlete I always keep going, I have been placed many barriers to do what I like and I always have pass them through, so I can connect a lot this book and this theme to my own life. This book have taught me many things and I would apply the lesson that it teaches you in my own life, so in general this is a great book that would get into your heart and I would recommend to any person that have many problems and a goal that he might want to accomplish, this book will teach them one simple lesson; KEEP GOING.

Adapting to the New School

Fight between both team

    For Greg his match against Regis could be the best, he made so great match that his school life could be better.  Everybody in school when he passed through the halls said hi or tried to talk to him. Even a teacher greets him for that spectacular game that he did. Greg was very happy and excited to have another match with Latimer since he noticed they were not that bad, but he had still many problems. The first problem he had was with Mtisha, she ignored him every time she could, she was obviously mad. The second problem was still with the coach, he does not like Greg at all and that would be a very big problem. The next match against St. Peters was the same story, the coach leave Greg in the bench until the last 10 minutes, but this time Greg was furious. He couldn't believe that the coach didn't put him in the starting team. Once he got in the game he immediately made one point for the team, Greg was on fire and then speak to his teammates in a very rude tone since they were losing he need his team to play better and as they never have done before. When the match finished, Latimer won by 1 point but there were internal conflicts in the team. Many of the teammates of Greg were mad at him because of his attitude in the match, when Ducky tried to defend him; he got in a fist fight with Jimmy, one of his own teammates. Greg was not going to stand there watching how they punched Ducky so he got in the fight, in the parking lot were Greg and Ducky fighting against Nick and Jimmy until some teachers were getting to their cars and they needed to stop before they notice them and report them. Both went on separate ways and Greg told Ducky that they kick them the ass, so in the next training he would bet that there would be another fight in between them. 


     When Greg get in the game he was mad and explosive. He fought against everyone, his own teammates and the other team players. He tooked the role as the coach and told everyone the things they needed to do and there was when the problem began. Greg said “Move that guy out of the center, move him or I'll break your jaw after the game!"(113) This quote as a reader make you imagine the exact thing that is happening in the book, Greg is very rude with everyone so there is an obvious explanation for why the fight started after the match. Greg just couldn't control himself and that could be a perfect example to tell the personality of Greg, he has a very winning mentality and if he is so rude because they are losing then is obvious that he would do anything to win.  

     After the fight Ducky and Greg were still "hot" but we could see a different type of Greg when Ducky said they needed to finish that fight. When he shouted to everyone we could have a very bad point of view on Greg, but when he tells Ducky; "We got to get this straightened up," Ducky said. "It won't help the team. I'll call Nick tonight. “Said Greg(117) At first we might thought that he would do anything to win but now I could see that he would do anything for the team. It was a very good way of acting telling Ducky that they can't keep the fight, he did think and do a good act for the team. If he would have told to keep the fight then the team would like Greg even less and he would spend more time in the bench instead of playing.   

     In conclusion, I think that Greg has everything that he need to become a NBA player, he has that spark of never giving up and always trying to do the best. Even though, he was rude with his team when he said that we could see he is a leader, he just want his team to win and to be the best and that's what an NBA player need to have to be a NBA player. Greg could control himself after the fight and that stressing match, he could have lost his mind but he controlled himself and help to control Ducky too. In my opinion Greg is adapting to the school and after the match against Regis he become very popular in the school but now with this fight he might lose a lot of popularity, so he is still adapting to the new school, new friends and new grades. For the next chapters I think that Greg would have a lot of new problems and a lot of basketball matches and what I think is that when Latimer lose we could finally see the real personality of Greg. Also I think that his grades will go up but with many people helping him like the tutor, school teachers and family. Overall, Greg is still adapting to the school so he is having some attitude problems when he get confidence with his teammates and all his new school classmates he might have a better attitude and one that is not that rude.

Not that Bad as we Thought

Victory of  Latimer over  Regis

    Greg "Slam" Harris finally got his first training with his new school basketball team, Latimer. For Greg this first training was the worst he had in his life, the team was completely unorganized and the players were not good at all. There were only two more kids that actually could play basketball fine. "Slam" was quite disappointed with that training and after the training the only thing he thought was how can he develop his basketball game with a team like that: how could he accomplish his dream if he plays for Latimer? He talked with his friend Ice again and told him how bad his new team was and that his first game is tomorrow, and that he hopes to see him on the game. That night Greg couldn't sleep very good, he stayed up just thinking on how can he make that team work...The next day, was the game, Greg was ready for it and was anxiously waiting for it. Once he got to the basketball court, his team was waiting for it and the coach too. The coach of Latimer set up the line-up for the game and the whistle of the first quarter sounded. Unfortunately, Greg was on the bench, his coach even though he knew Greg was his best player he didn't place him on the starting team. Latimer was losing 28-20 until finally the coach said "Slam,get up! You're in." They were in the last ten minutes of the match and were losing by 10 points. Greg needed to do something and he had all his focus in the game, he made perfect plays with Nick and he made many hoops on just 5 minutes. The score was 28-26, Latimer was down by two, the pressure was very high for Greg he needed to do something, he dribbled through the defence and !Slam¡ The game was tied. 30 seconds of the game were left and Greg was on fire, when only ten seconds were left Greg score the last hoop and Latimer won the first game of the season. Greg couldn't believe that he scored ten hoops, the ones that made his team win. After the game he went out with Ice and two friends of him on the car to celebrate the victory. Ice was with his girlfriend on the front seats and Greg was with one friend of Bianca, Ice girlfriend, on the back seats. They were talking until Ice decided to get flirtatious with Bianca and they started kissing in front of Greg. Since Greg was quite a lady-killer he just looked into Bianca's friend eyes and kissed her, being just friends. After the incident with Bianca the next day Greg went to train and Nick challenged him to a one on one. Greg was surprised because he thought that after that match against Regis everybody would believe that he was the best. Greg accepted the challenge and both played a very rigid short match but as every one expected Greg won 5-3. After the game Nick told to Greg that the only reason he made him that challenge was because the coach told him to do it. Once Nick said that to Greg, he stayed thinking of why would the coach have something to do with him.

   In the match there were many important moments and many included Greg talking to his team. But there was one special and important quote that the coach said that made the match turn around. 

”They’re probably going to try to slow down the game and draw fouls. We've got nine minutes to play, that plenty of time. What we need is board control. We can't let them get second and third shots. Let's go get them!"(62) The coach by saying these would make all his team player gain lot of confidence to themselves, I can connect to my one experience this quote when the coach in the middle time tell us this little phrases that make the team players have the goal of winning in their minds. After this talk all the players would play quite better for a time and in my believe this phrase was the one that made them won the match.  

Greg vs Nick in his one on one challenge

    As we know, not only the game is important but all the trainings too. In Latimer training for the match Greg had many talks with the coach and from there a type of rivalry and hatred started between them. But the one that made Greg now that was Nick, what he told was "The reason I played a one to one with you was because the coach, he told me that you had an attitude problem."(88) This quote make us clear why the coach didn't made Greg play the full match, for the coach Greg could be a great player and play very good basketball but he have a bad relationship with the coach. Maybe many people have talked badly about Greg with him and that why he said that Greg have a bad attitude. But in my opinion the coach is just trying to help him, if he gives Greg a lesson then he could change his way of acting and be a better person and a better basketball player.

      In conclusion, the theme of the book is very clear and I can understand the book theme now that in the beginning was confusing. For the next chapters I think that Greg would have many more problems with Mtisha because on how he cheated on her, also he would have problems with the coach and the team, but in school Greg is going to be more popular since he did a great match and made the team won. These chapters I could connect to many own life experiences since I am a soccer player I could connect to the coach talks and the popularity and greetings if you do a good match. These chapters have been very interesting and we can know the main character much better and I hope for the next chapters even more action in Greg games and these thrilling endings in his games. 

New school, New Life

      Greg Harris a 17 year old boy that has a special gift on playing basketball. He has been recently changed of school and in his new school, Latimer, the expected grades are higher than in his last school and he has lot of troubles with math. His grades are quite low for the expectations and he need to have better grades for playing basketball. They have prohibited him playing basketball until he has better grades, when they told this to Greg his world clashed down on him. He couldn't live without playing basketball, his future dream was playing basket as an NBA professional player and with this restriction and his dream have been destroyed. Greg reunited with one of his friends and Mtisha that was one of his close friends and they chat about his new school and of the problems he had, but as he go on, his grades are not his only problems but Latimer school does not have a very high rate on sports teams. So Greg wish has come down with all the problems this new school have caused to him, he started thinking that he will never be an NBA player. Now Greg need to promise that he would do the best he can so his grades will go up, with this promise he could partially play and train in the school but he need to show an improvement in math grades. One day he was called to the office of the director of the school and Greg got afraid. We thought that something wrong happened and once he enters the office he saw her mom and a man. They told him that this would be his new tutor for math and that he needed this help so he could play his favorite sport; Basketball.

      One phrase that the book had and that clears you the idea of the book, tells you about the new school Greg is in. Latimers school isn’t quite what Greg was looking his sports activity is in a very long way. In the newspaper it says "Latimers Arts Magnet School is facing its fifth losing season in as many years."(45) When Greg read this he was very disappointed, he´s idea of Latimer went down. He already knew that his new school sports activity is not that high but with this notice, his dream to become an NBA player. After that he talked very bad about his knew school and he started missing his old school.

     As far the book has gone we dont know uch about Greg personalitiy. We just know he is a fan of sports and that he have a "never gives up" personality, but other than that we have not see in the book. one quote that tells us how Greg is, is when he was talking with her friend Mtisha and he tell her; "I can teven get a light kiss?"(27) This little phrase tell us a lot about Greg personality, eventhough it does not tell us directly how he is we can infer how Greg personality is. No shy person could be able to say this "can you give me a kiss?" so we can see that Greg is not a shy guy and that he is a flirtatious. He flirted with her friend wich tell us he is a very social person that liked to flirt and hang out with friends 

     In conclusion the first part of the book has been quite simple just an introduction of what is going to be about the entire book and the personality of the main character. It presents the problems and in that focuses most of these chapters. For the next chapters I predict that Greg is going to have hard times with his new tutor and with the team. Basically with all that includes his new school. Since he is in a revelry age he would be mad with everything that he is asked and then he would be prohibited to play basketball until he show improvement in grades and attitude.

David,s dream to success

     David is growing up and he just want to fit in a group, he wanted to have a gang and for that he stole things. Rudy and Lilian are very disappointed of him and are getting worried of him causing more problems. Now the police are involved about this case of stealing from the grocery store and they could determine a type of penalization to him. David was sent to court because of his actions and when he was in the court mother appeared and David get in panic, he felt again as if she was going to take him with her. Rudy is very tired of David, but Lilian will keep defending him. David with all the problems he had is given a new chance of behaving well. Now finally David has a type of contact with his father, he sends him lot of letters but he does not receive any feedback. Until one day Davids father came to the house and get to talk with David, he said that the house was a mess because of him. He just camed to talk with him to tell him he is guilty of how mother is acting in the house. After that father leaves and Lilian gave a hug to David, she gave him some love that David has not feel for a long time. David still had lot of problems and he was still trying to get in a group, so no the kids of the school fooled him in insulting a girl, when he did that he felt very bad and one boy Carlos came and gave him his hand, and his friendship. Mother appeared in school and David described her as a monster, the other students ran from her because of her looks. She get near David and talk. Mother has been very hurt of Davids change of home, so now she have a new kid to abuse, Russel. He was Davids younger brother and now Mother is doing to him what she done to David. As we reach the final of the book, David is growing up he is now 16 and he don't know what to do in life, he want to work and so he is given a job and he did a good job and stayed with the job. David has founded more friends and he is fitting in with more people, he is older so he is more mature and is conscience of what he does. On the neighborhood he had a problem, one girl was very rude with him because he is a foster child, David felt very bad with this and have a little shock because he remembered everything that mother does to him.

    After the visit of Father David felt very bad, he told him that the house was hell again because of him. David was bad and Lilian gave him some love, this made him change the way he saw the world. Now he knows he have someone that loves him and that will be n his side even in the hardest moments. David after that moment of care that Lilian gave to him he said...

"Mom, I love you"(216)

     This little quote tell us that David is feeling better, that Lilian has done quite good things with him and David is feeling very appreciated. This words David have not tell them on a long time, he does not tell i love you to mother, to his brothers and neither to his father, but now he told Lilian. This is because if she gives David some love, she would receive some love back from David. Lilian has been so good to David that he won the title of mom and the place in Davids heart of being a mom.

    David has some problems with the girl in his neighborhood and she judged him because of being a foster child. Then she went and tell her mother what was happening with David, and she get very frustrated and as soon as age saw David she was very rude with David and said...

"You're that little...that little F-child, aren't you?"(271)

       The mom of that girl did that because she is a very discriminate person not because David did something wrong, that women was crazy she exploded over David. She did that just because David is a foster child, this type of person are the ones that damage a society, this is a type of racism. David felt very bad with this and also made him remember his past. I don't understand why people need to discriminate other people just because they are foster??? they are un respectfull people they don't know the history hided of this children's, do they think is the children's fault why are they foster child? This people should know all the history that follow this children's before they judge...

     This was the final of the book and it was very shocking, some parts changed in a good and bad way. He finded more friends which could make him feel better, but his family situation was worst. Now he may be guilty of what mother could do to Russel, As this book ended at his age of 18, I want to find out what happened next because this book does not finish on the happy ending for David, and I'm looking forward to read the third book that will talk of Davids life from age of 18 and forward. The part were the old lady mother of that girl talked with David really get to my heart, I hate this people that judge this innocent children's of doing something that they are not guilty of. Davids life in this book changed dramatically and I think in a good way even all the problems he faced. The theme of this book is mostly; Never give up, because he always keep trying to have a new family and a new and good life. Now David will see what he can do in his future since he is now 18, he can live alone. In my opinion this book was very interesting and shocking, David need to be very great full with Lilian that was the one that care and support him and mostly because she gave him mothers love, she was his "MOM."

More Problems

      David with his new family is very happy, he is enjoying a lot. But he is having some problems, with Larry Jr. Since they meet each other they have set their differences, bot didn't like each other. So Larry was a type of bully and because he was bigger he treated David very bad, one day when David just get to the house after he ride his bike, Larry didn't let him get to his room and he started insulting him, Katy that is another foster child leaving in the house said Larry to stop. Larry Jr turned around and discuss with Katy. David was furious and he wanted to fight with Larry, so they get down to the basement and David punched Larry Jr, this wasn't a big deal because Larry was very big so he didn't even feel the punches. Then Lilian open the door of the house and get down to the basement and she was very mad at Larry. She did knew that David got a ¨rivalry¨ with Larry and she talked with Larry. After that incident Lilian knew that David need some help and she toked David to the psychiatric. David has very meek and didn't talk with the doctor(psychiatric), the doctor asked many questions of mother, of how did he felt when she burned his arm, or why did she abused him. This question made very angry to David he felt very uncomfortable. So David started hating this doctor he said he was crazy and he need to keep going to talk to him. A week later when David went to the doctor again, he told Lilian he didn't want to go again that he didn't like this doctor, so Lilian accepted Davids petition and canceled the date. When all of this psychiatric stuff passed, David had a good relationship with big Larry, one day big Larry invited David to a little trip on  their bikes, they were going threw all the  city until they reached the ex school of David, he felt quite good, feeling the air and watching the kids playing outside. They keep going and they reach the street where mother house was. He told big Larry that here was where he used to live, and he asked if they could pass through. Big Larry without knowing the consequences that this would bring accepted, they ride in front of mother house and David felt that he saw his brothers and he ran out of that street. Once they reach home, Lilian received them with a bad news. That David mother called to tell what are they doing near her house. They felt ashamed and didn't knew it was a big deal, but Lilian explained that if they do that one more time or if they just be near of Mrs. Pelzer (Davids mother) she can have the right to take David with her.


    David had a discussion with Larry Jr, and they both said some very bad thing to each other. They fighted because they're differences and since Larry was older he had advantage, this discussion was not that simple as an discussion but they sort of punch each other. One moment Larry said to David...

"An insect with no brain! And that's what you're going to be if you keep doing that!"(139)

       This is what Larry said to David, is quite similar to some things that mother said to David. So with this we know that David was still with problems and this show us that this family was not that good was we thought. David may have this problems with Larry for many time and he any time would even feel as if he was with mother, with all the abuse and horrible past that he had.

       Now many of us might think that David just have some problems with Larry Jr, but is not like that. Big Larry is also a very complicated person, at first he was very kind and good with David but then he changed. Just as mother. He started being very mad and he just like exploded once any one made something wrong. Like one event that showed us he is different as he thought and he said...

"But I don't really need your crap. You hear me?"(168)

         This is a very rude tone to talk to a kid, this may hurt a lot David feelings and they way he sees his new family would change. He might have a sort of un trust with both Larrys and now since he have someone that will take care of him (Lilian) David way of behaving will change. Now he will make some more trouble in the house and he will fight with both Larrys when they say something to him that he don't likes. If they cause problems to David he will fight back and cause more problems with them, and if this happens they new family will no longer be a good family.

          Summarizing my thoughts, David does not have the perfect family as we thought and as he thought. He is having problems with Larry and Big Larry. At least he have some family love of Lilian, that she takes a lot of care of him, she is very patient with David and she gives a lot of love to him. I predict that the new family is going to be very tired of David of his bad habits and they re are going to be more strict and bad with him. I also say that Larry Jr is going to have more problems with David and there would no be a secure environment in the house. David will also change and be more rude with all his family members and he would start giving problems to them. The theme we can see in this part is patience because of how the new family have been with David and how good they are with him for the bad things he do.

A New Family

      David stayed little time in the foster child care after the trial. Ms. Gold looked for a family as fast as she could for David, there were many family's that would like to adopt a child but they need lot of requirements. Until one day Ms. Gold came to the foster care and said to David "you are leaving." They pack up all David’s properties and leave with lot of happiness. He get in the car and talk with Ms. Gold, they mostly talk of his new family, she told him that it was a good family that her new mother is a really good person and that he will have a very good life in this new family. Once they reach his new house, they saw this big white house and Ms. Gold tell him, "we are here." She knock the door and this young women came out, it was David new mother, Mrs. Catanze. They get in the house and she presented all his new family members; Larry Junior, Big Larry and Connie. Even though this is a short list of names they got lot of children's as their "children's" This family was dedicated to take care of foster child's, they have adopted 2 kids more that Mrs. Catanze take care of. Mrs. Catanze was a very good women she treated David very well, she gave him food, a bike and new clothes. He was living a very good life with his family. One day David and Lilian (Mrs. Catanze) were talking and the bell of the door rang. David went and open the door and what he saw was no good, it was mother. She came to the house as an invitation of Lilian, she was with his kids (David´s brothers) and she get in the house and talk with Lilian. David felt very bad, mother didn't even see him, and she ignored him as if he was a no one.

        David with his new family and stuff was having a new bike. He was given a bike and he ride it all the days until the night, he enjoyed having this bike, once he was riding it he remembered that mother let him ride bike for one time in his life and this time was before she started abusing him. Once he ride lot of times his bike he told Lilian...

  "That day was the first time I felt that I was a normal kid." (97)

       

       This quote really get to our heart, when David said this we can even feel his joy. This is another evidence of how mother treated him, another evidence of how she destroyed David psychology. When he said this we can guess that he felt that he was a no one before when he was with mother and not only tell us how bad is mother, but on how this new family will help him.

        Later on, when David mom came to visit him, David was feeling very bad. When she left he cried, and tell everything to Lilian, everything that her mom did to him. How she made him eat poop, how he stabbed him, how she threat to kill him and how she tell him that she hates David. Lilian felt very sorry with him and cried too. She didn’t knew anything of this, so she tried to cheer him up, and Lilian said...

"It´s all right. I´m right here. Everything´s going to be all right."(103)    

     This quote by Mrs. Catanze will make David have lot of trust with Lilian. When Lilian said this we know that she loves David and that he will be a good "mom", she will take care of him and David will have a good life. Lilian will always be taking care of him and while David is with Mrs. Catanze he will be secure and mother will never do anything to him. One simple quote like this if someone tell to us it will be like a simple " I love you" that is very common for us, but for David this can mean a world, one little piece of love he receive would mean a lot after everything that mother do to him.

      In conclusion for this chapters of the book I think that David’s life is changing a lot and in a good way. Now he receives love from people, he have clothes and he enjoys with his bike. He is having lot of joy in his life, even though he still have some problems, he is starting to get them through, he is starting to forget mother. For the next chapters I predict that David is going to have some new problems but now with a new person, Larry Jr. I think this because when he first came to the house (David) Larry Jr said he was a wimp and since he is in a difficult age were everything sucks for him, I think that David will face Larry Jr later on. As I want to keep reading more and more this book, I want to find out what new problems David will need to face and how will he get through all of them as he have done until this far.                                                                                                                                                    

Looking Back the Past

Foster parents need of  David

    After the incident of the police David returned back to home and he was stilled punished by mother and nothing changed. Even mother treat him worst, after some days the cops came to the house and take David. This was a flashback to the first book were in the first chapters they talk about this scene, were he go to the police station and they told him to don't worry that he is going to be fine, and this is the same phrase as they used in this book. So he is toked to the police station and then to an orphanage were they would wait until any family would like to take him as a new family member. David was suffering of fear, fear that mother came any day and take him to the home again, he couldn't sleep any night and dreamed that mother toked him with her again. In this foster child care or orphanage he was treated well they gave him food and he socialized with other children's that stay there. Later on a lawyer came named Ms. Gold, she was the one in care of David situation and of the trial that they were having in some days with mother. Ms. Gold helped David in everything, she ave him food, clothes and love, but David didn't help at all he was afraid of telling what mother does to him and if he didn't tell anything he would return back to his mother. Ms.Gold gave David a promise that mother would never ever touch him again and that phrase is what changed David attitude. Now he cooperated with Ms. Gold so they could win the trial. Finally the trial day came and they went to church they both gave their evidence and at the final David won this trial. He was going to be selected a family that will take care until he is 18. Some days after mother came to the foster child care, she was going to give David some clothes of him and toys and once she was alone with David she told " I'm going to get you back."   

     David was having lot of problems, psychological problems of fear with her mother. He was afraid that she will get back and take him with her, so he didn't tell anything that mother does to her to any one, he didn't trust in anyone. So they could gain some trust the doctors, Ms. Gold and the foster parents told him...

"Your mother is never going to hurt you   again." ( 73)

     This quote demonstrate us that not only that want to take out information from David so they win the trial, but it shows how this people (Ms, Gold, cops, doctors,etc) need to tell so they can gain the trust of David in telling the truth of his life. David has serious problems and he will have them inside his mind for maybe the rest of his life.

      But there is obviously a reason of why David has this fear to mother. Not only because she make him physical damage but she get into his head too. Once David was in the foster care and without mother anymore when mother get to the foster care to see him she told him...

"Boy… get this straight! I don't care what they say! I don’t care what they do! You're not out of this yet! I´ll get you back! You hear me? I´ll get you back!"(53)

     Once mother told him this his levels of un-trust and fear may grew like to a 100%, she threaten David to get him back, that nothing is finished...That she is not finished with him. So David may not want to even leave the house, to get out, as in the book said he couldn't even sleep. So this type of psychological problems are very hard to get through and David will have this quote and this fear in his mind for life.

      Summarizing, this chapters were mostly of a rewind to the first part of the other book and they talk about how he was saved and toked to the trial. Were he can never see mother again and live the rest of his life as any other life. It also tells us how mother controlled him and make him fear her and how this will hurt the development of the trial. For the next chapters I predict that David is still going to have this problems but he is going to find a family that will take care of him, but this family is not going to be as he thought and also is going to treat him as a no one. So he would try to contact Ms. Gold for help and any time Ms. Gold is going to be the one that will take care of him for the rest of his life.

After "A Chilld Called It"

                 "The Lost Boy" as the sequel of the first novel "A Child Call It" is about what happened after the first book. This book talks about David’s life from ages 12 to 18 and the first chapters are a rewind to what happened in the first book. After talking about what happened before, David got the chance to get out of home. To escape from his mother that have treated him as an "It". Mother was very frustrated at that time like she is all time and she shouted David to leave the house. As an intelligent kid, David turn around, open the door and left the house. It was night and it was cold but he thought that it was better than living in the basement. But escaping was not going to be the solution, he thought that it was too easy to scape and he thought that it might be a dream. He kept walking until he get to a pizza restaurant, one man was eating and he left the tips. As David saw that he decided to steal the 25 cents he left, one of the man’s working in the pizza restaurant saw that and went to David and said "Why did you get the 25 cents, they are not yours. “David with fear didn’t answer and return the money steeled. As a good men the pizza worker made David enter the restaurant and he promise to give him a piece of pizza. David once he entered the restaurant he felt warm and secure as he haven’t felt for years. But walking at that time and being a kid of so young age was not normal, the pizza men called a police officer to come and get David so he take him to the police station to see what happened to him. After the men gave the pizza to David he told him that he called a police to get him, David after that went crazy. He felt fear of mother and angry of the pizza men reporting him. Once he get to the police station, they called father to get to the police station and explain why he is in the street. Father came and explained that it was a miss understanding and that everything at home is "ok." Father lied to the police men and the police men told David that he can’t left the house because of things like that. But he was wrong, and he can’t judge that because he didn’t knew all the story, the real story. 

David leaving the house

        David after that inconvenient returned to his miserable life, returned to "hell" even when he got the chance to escape from it. One quote that show us how David feel in his head and how mother have destroyed his self stem...

"I wish I were a real person" (21)

        Even thought is a simple phrase, it tells a lot and mostly the need of David leaving the house. He needs urgent help and especially he needs to never see mother again neither return to "The house," He had serious psychological problems, so there is were this quote takes in place and as he said he wished to be a real person. Even though we know he is real person he says that trying to how he is treated. Something I react about this quote is how David can live like this, with that huge feeling of knowing that no one loves you and that you feel like you are invisible and a no one for other people.

        This quote was taken in place by father when he toked out David from the police station and they were in the car getting back to the house. He was telling David how mother was acting and how the house was on "fire" and there is where father told him to try to make her happy.

"Can you just try and make her happy?"(31)

This represent when David is being grounded 

        This quote in my point of view is completely unacceptable, I can’t understand how his one father knowing all the truth of how mother treat David can tell this, David try everything to get a better relationship with her and the mother, the only thing she does is punish him. No child deserves this specially if is a 9 year old one because they do not do nothing and if they do something wrong is because of their innocence.

        Summarizing everything,  this part of the book mostly talks of the same as the first book, about the abuse of mother on David. It also has something new that is when David left the house and that is something that David was scared of and he need to charge a lot of courage to leave the house. Leaving the house was his dream but also his fear. We found another theme in this part that is power and this relates with the power that mother has on David and in his whole house. For the next chapters I predict that mother is going to keep punishing David because of nothing and any time David may be tired and tell a police what is happening to him and they will get mother and help David to scape from this "house of hell."
